Life is all about hits and misses. You win some
and you lose some. So what's the difference between those who seem to go
through rough times with smile a and those who keep seeking help from outside? I
feel there's just one difference, those who like to survive have dug deep
into their mind and devised a surviving mechanism. It is their philosophy in life, attitude, and confidence; call it whatever you want to but
it is something personal that drives them.
Recently I came across two such "philosophies"
and this post is simply about sharing these gems without tainting with my
opinion. So here are those words by a couple of persons whose name you may not
necessarily recognize.
John Picarello
"If you love something but choose not to do it professionally,
it's not a waste. Because, you know, you still have it. You have it
forever."
Sounds so refreshing and honest, right? To find out who is
John Picarello you'll have to go through this article. I'll leave it up to you
to find out more. But coming back to his gem, these words are dedicated to all
the guys who worry about things they wanted to do in life but weren't
able to. There's always time to learn new things and the time spent strumming unmelodious
tunes on guitar, or trying to copy a painting of Van Gogh, or reading through
pages of Hemingway; all this was time well spent. You may never become a
musician, lyricist, novelist, dancer, accountant or heck even a developer but
time spent is not time lost if you loved it!

Laura Dekker (courtsey www.lauradekker.nl) |
"I read a lot and I listen to music. But I don't really
get bored because I'm doing something I love."
These are the words of 16-year-old girl who has been sailing
solo around the world since August last year. This young and brave Dutch sailor
has sailed through some rough seas and is making her way to the sea around
Africa, ignoring the warnings of NATO commanders over the threat of piracy
around the east coast of Africa. When asked what she does to keep herself
entertained on the boat she replied with the words above. So what's the moral
of her ongoing story? Simple, if you love what you do you're not bored. It's
for all those who say I'm bored of my life. Does this imply you do not love
your life? Perhaps that's true, if you don't love your life you'll be bored – maybe even resort to looking for entertainment in some dark corners! So start loving your
life and work it out.
