What does a saint feel? This is a question that struck my mind in
the wee hours of last night. It is something about that time that magically
erases the boundary between the conscious and the subconscious mind. It is the
time when the mind seems to be bombarded with beautiful divine thoughts rather
than just the fortuitous wandering it engages in most of the time.
I've digressed
too far from the question I asked you at the beginning. Somehow I felt the urge
to describe the moment of origin of this post. So, what would a saint feel? I'm
still clouted by the judgemental and biases of a materialistic human mind. But
I can definitely imbibe some of the divinity through pretentiousness. Really!
Of course I can pretend, or what's the other word for it, 'daydream'.
The only thought that came to my mind was
- constant love. Viola! That's how it must feel (my best guesstimate). A
constant love for the world and beyond; that must be the feeling the saints
must feel. For they have gone beyond the materialistic ails of emotions that
range from neutrality to hatred. What else can they feel?
A divine mind (read a saint) cannot be neutral/indifference
for it has attained the ultimate bliss and the mind has transitioned from
give-take (read business) to give-give (read love). Even when we're in the
ephemeral happy mood our heart cannot stop itself from giving & sharing
that happiness to others. How often when you give without the expectation of
any returns the heart is overwhelmed by immense happiness. So imagine a saint's
heart! (I'm using the words heart & mind interchangeably).
A saint definitely cannot feel hatred as
that's a materialistic emotion which shows the mind is still suffering from
materialistic ailments that still believe in give-take. The ego is still deeply
rooted in such a mind. And the first leap a mind has to take to move towards
divinity is to burn the ego (the feeling of I'm important). For ego indicates
little or no surrender to the truth. So hatred is out of question.
So all that left is love. The Beatles song
'All You Need Is Love' captures the emotion but for saint it needs to be
tweaked from 'All You Need Is Love' to 'All You Have Is Love'. (IMHO). If
Love-is-all-I-have is the state we aspired to be in then there is no room for
any other feeling. It cannot be love and something else at the same time, for our mind though
unlimited but it can let only one emotion through at a time.
